Report On The Visit Of The Mexican Consulate To Montpelier

We recently received an update from the Mexican Consulate about their visit to Montpelier earlier this summer. As you can read below, they had a very full day!
CVRAN co- sponsored this event and several CVRAN members volunteered throughout the day.

I allow myself to report the incidents and results obtained on the occasion of the Comprehensive Mobile Consulate held Saturday, June 29, 2024, in the city of Montpelier, Vermont, at the Christ Episcopal Church in the capital of that state.
Throughout the day, approximately 225 compatriots attended, who were provided with documentation, preventive health services – including vaccines to prevent Covid-19, tetanus and influenza – as well as consular protection, assistance and labor rights.
Regarding consular documentation, 112 passports were issued, 57 high-security consular ID´s, 15 certified copies of Civil Registry Acts, 9 applications for voting credentials with photography (INE), and 2 dual nationality civil registries. A total of 179 official Mexican documents were issued.

Regarding health, it was provided by the medical organization Bridges to Health, which sponsored an inoculation clinic that offered vaccines against Covid-19, influenza and tetanus, having vaccinated 11 compatriots.
In the field of human rights, in addition to the preventive consular assistance talks offered by the Consular Protection team, there was the participation of officials from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) of the United States Department of Labor as well as the state Vermont Legal Aid office.
Finally, the participation of the non-profit civil organization Migrant Justice/Justicia Migrante de Vermont stands out, whose volunteers offered advice on civil rights and promoted its Milk with Dignity initiative in which countless migrant workers of Mexican origin participate.
