Dear CVRAN Community,
Can you help? We have only a month before the borders are closed. There are refugees waiting in limbo to come to the US. They are fleeing danger; they already have permission to come and they are waiting. CVRAN would like to welcome up to 10 of these people, perhaps 2 to 3 small families, but we cannot do it without:
- Team leaders and team members: Could you or you and a friend lead a team that helps an individual or family get settled here…. or would you be willing to join as a team member? Training and support are provided. Others are stepping up with money to support these stranded individuals. Now we need the people power! Estimated time per week is at least 10 hours for the team leader, less for team members. Email Kathie (westviewva@gmail.com) to sign up.
- Direct service coordination: Could you be the one to act as a clearinghouse of information and support for the new guests and their teams? The position can be split between two people – one to work on the practical aspects such as talking to landlords and helping with internet access, another person to convene meetings of team leaders to compare notes. Training, support and back-ups provided. Estimated time per week is 15 hours when shared between two people, with greater intensity at new arrivals are getting settled.
